Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram were involved in a hilarious banter ahead of being involved in a cricket show in Dubai recently. The incident occurred while Waqar was getting ready to feature as part of the panel of a cricket show hosted by Fakhr-e-Alam.

In a room which featured Cheteshwar Pujara and other guests in addition to the two pacers, Waqar was spotted waiting behind the door for his clothes. Wasim made an appearance displaying his cheeky humour. He had Waqar's blue-coloured suit with him, and playfully teased his former teammate for hiding behind the door.

It is noteworthy to mention that a day earlier during the same show, the renowned fast bowler discussed the allegations of the presence of the ‘favouritism culture’ in the Pakistani unit.

'If there was someone better, they would have been selected' - Akram on Pakistan's team selection

Akram remarks linked to favouritism came in response to the nation's 60-run defeat against New Zealand in their Champions Trophy 2025 opener.

“If you want me to be brutally honest, I can be. In our culture, we say, 'these are our kids, don't criticise them.' But, I believe these are our best players. If there was someone better, they would have been selected. People talk about parchi (influence-based selection), but at this level, parchi doesn't work,” Akram was quoted as saying by Geo TV.

Pakistan, who lost their tournament opener to New Zealand by 60 runs, will be up against India on Sunday, February 23 in a must-win encounter. The eagerly-awaited contest is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, slated to commence on 2:30 pm (IST)/1 pm (local time).
