Day 2 of the ongoing fourth test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 ended in disappointment for the Indian team. After Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul departed early in the first innings, Yaashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli stabilised the innings with a solid partnership.
However, one of the biggest blows to team India came towards the end of day 2 when a miscommunication between Kohli and Jaiswal led to latter's dismissal as he had to depart for 82 runs in 118 deliveries, arguably missing a well-deserved century.
Facing Scott Boland, Jaiswal clipedp the ball towards mid-on and attempted to take a quick run. However, Kohli turned back to take a look at the fielder and the moment of hesitation was enough for Jaiswal's dismissal as Jaiswal had nearly reached the non-striker's end by then.

Virat Kohli falls prey to Scott Boland as well
Day 2 of the clash went from bad to worse for the Indian team as shortly after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal, Scott Boland managed to send Virat Kohli back in the hut. Kohli attempted to push a ball outside the off stump after a disciplined stay at the crease. However, he got a thin edge as the ball went into the hands of keeper Alex Carey, walking back for 36 off in 86.
It won't be wrong to say that the MCG Test has been topsy-turvy for the Indian veteran. After the altercation with Sam Konstas in the first innings, Kohlii captured all headlines and copped a 20% fine on his match fee in addition to a demerit point. He had a point to prove after a quiet series but with another subpar showing in the series, the eyes will once again be on Kohli. Meanwhile, day 2 ended with India at 164/5, trailing by 310 runs.
