Melbourne Stars locked horns with Sydney Thunder at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) stadium in Perth on Sunday (October 23), as the side aimed to get going in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2022. The clash was crucial for Stars following their three consecutive losses in the first three matches of the season.
However, the rain Gods showed no mercy upon the side as the match ended in a no result. However, during the course of the match, the players from both sides were seen exchanging banter.
During one of those moments, team India cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, who is representing Melbourne Stars this season, was seen having a fun conversation with her teammate Annabel Sutherland.
In a video shared on social media by 7Cricket, Jemimah can be seen having a chat with her teammates. The player decided to teach a little bit of Hindi to Sutherland.
“I think I will teach a little bit of Hindi to Bel (Annabel),” said Jemimah to which her excited teammate responded saying “Yeah, let’s go!”. What followed was the player teaching Annabel how to ‘greet’ someone back at home, in India.
“So, when you greet someone in India, you join your hands and say ‘namaskar’,” said the India player and it was followed by her teammate replicating the same as she said “Namaskar”. Furthermore, Jemimah taught her how to say her name in her native language.

“So how do you say you name?, so I will say ‘mera naam Jemi hai’,” told Jemimah to Annabel who responded back as saying “Mera naam Annabel hai”. Impressed with her quick learning abilities, Jemimah added “Amazing, she’s one of the best students I’ve got till now!”
Jemimah Rodrigues made her Stars debut against Perth Scorchers
The India top order batter, Jemimah, made her debut for the Stars in the previous encounter against Perth Scorchers which marked the third game of their campaign. The batter, however, failed to make any impact for the side and was dismissed for a duck off five balls.
Stars have now lost three out of the four matches that includes one no result in their most recent match against Sydney Thunder. Jemimah will hope to be an integral member of the squad and look to turn things around for her side.
