WBBL 2023: Renegades' Harmanpreet Kaur involved in heated exchange with Sophie Devine
Melbourne Renegades women won the toss and opted to bat first.
Melbourne Renegades locked horns with Perth Scorchers in the 22nd match of the ongoing WBBL (Women's Big Bash League) 2023 at the Western Australian Cricket Association in Perth on November 3, Friday.
During the game, Harmanpreet Kaur, the Renegades batter, was involved in a heated argument with Scorchers captain Sophie Devine. The incident happened in the final ball of the 16th over. Harmanpreet pulled out Devine's delivery as she was not completely ready to face it.
Devine asked the umpire to announce it as a completed over, but the India captain appealed to call it dead and deliver once again. After a review with the third umpire, the on-field umpire finalised the call in Harmanpreet's favour.
Meanwhile, Scorchers' wicketkeeper-batter, Beth Moony, was heard saying that Harmanpret will probably win the battle against Devine, claiming the Renegades batter does scare her a bit.
"There's a bit of argy-bargy going on between Harmanpreet (Kaur) and Soph (Devine), and I'm actually not sure who would win that battle because Harmanpreet scares me a little bit," said Mooney.
