WCL 2024: Irfan Pathan lifts Yusuf Pathan after India Champions' title win

Yusuf Pathan played a quickfire knock of 30 in just 16 balls and India finished the game in 20th over.

India Champions emerged victorious in the final of the World Championship of Legends as they beat Pakistan Champions by five wickets. The tournament's inaugural edition saw six teams vying for glory with India named as the champions. In the final game, chasing a target of 157, India felt some pressure after losing Ambati Rayudu and Gurkeerat Singh Mann. Yusuf Pathan played a quickfire knock of 30 in just 16 balls and India finished the game in 20th over.

Irfan Pathan, also part of the team finished the formalities by scoring a boundary off the first ball of the 20th over and lifting his brother Yusuf. During the game against South Africa Champions, the brothers were involved in a brawl as miscommunication cost Irfan’s run-out. They played match-winning knocks against Australia in the semifinal, both scoring half-centuries. After the title win, the brother shared a warm hug and a video of Irfan lifting Yusuf went viral.

Talking about the brothers, Yusuf contested in the recent Indian General Elections from the Berhampur constituency in West Bengal. He eventually won the election and became the Member of Parliament for the first time. On the other hand, Irfan has been diligent in his broadcasting role as a commentator, and the brother could be seen playing franchise leagues such as Legends League Cricket, Road Safety League, and WCL.

Irfan, Yusuf part of title win for second time

This was the second title where the brothers were part of the same squad. They were part of team India which created history by winning the debut T20 World Cup tournament in 2007. Irfan was the Man of the Match in the Final against Pakistan. On the other hand, Yusuf played his first game if the season walking straightaway into the finals, replacing the injured Virender Sehwag.
