India and Australia are all set to take on each other in a three-match ODI series ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. Both sides will take on each other in three ODIs. Notably, the first game is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 22, at the renowned IS Bindra Stadium, in Mohali.
With the first ODI right around the corner, the Australian squad have arrived in India for their clash against the Rohit Sharma-led side. In the same vein, the veteran Australian batter David Warner took to social media and posted a picture with a security official upon his arrival in India with other players of the Australian team.
"Always great to be welcomed back to India. We are always well looked after and well protected. Thanks so much. @gmraerocity always makes our transits so easy," Warned captioned the post on his Instagram handle.
Australia start their ODI World Cup campaign against India on October 8
Both India and Australia will be keen on putting in good performances in the three-match series, as the result could heavily affect their confidence going into the ODI World Cup 2023. India will be coming into the series on the back of a brilliant title victory in the Asia Cup 2023. The side defeated the likes of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal to clinch the title.
On the other hand, Australia will come into the series on the back of a loss against South Africa. Both sides took on each other in a five-game ODI series, where, despite winning the first two games, Australia succumbed to a loss in the final three games. Notably, Australia had a severely depleted squad against South Africa, as many star players were out injured.
They will hope that the South Africa series loss will not derail their performances, and they will look to put in an improved performance against the Indian team. It is also worth noting that India and Australia will kick off their World Cup campaign on October 8, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai.
