India are currently facing Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, and the things have been cloudy for the visitors after the opening Test in Perth, where the Indians won by 295 runs, led by Jasprit Bumrah. Throughout the series, no one apart from the senior pacer has looked in good touch with the ball.
Meanwhile, Bumrah came forward and addressed the bowling issues with the team. The ace pacer also added that their bowling unit is currently going through a transitional phase, while also discussing the help and support he has to offer to the inexperienced line-up to groom them into developing a stronger unit. The 31-year-old pacer also gave some insights into the dynamics of the team and the roles they are given going into the series so far.
“As a bowling unit, as I said, we are in transition, so it's my job to help the others. I have played a little more than them, so I am trying to help them. But again, everyone will learn through it, will get better, and eventually will find different ways. So this is the journey that you'll have to go through," he told the press on Monday.
On a lighter note, the Indian vice-captain was also asked of his assessment of their batting throughout the series thus far. Bumrah jokingly replied to the media and told them to check his batting stats for hitting most runs in an over in Test cricket.
“It's an interesting question. But, you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a Test over. But, jokes apart. That's another story,” he replied.

Bumrah backs Siraj
One of the bowlers who has been criticized out of the entire bowling attack is Mohammed Siraj not only for his antics on the field but his inconsistent line and lengths as well, which remained a headache as Indians were not able to take wickets at regular intervals. However, Bumrah still backed his bowling partner on his fighting spirit and attitude to play as a team man.
“He was bowling well, and he has picked up a fair few of the wickets. In this game, I think I'll give him credit that he had a little bit of a niggle, but he still kept on bowling and still helped the team because he knew if he goes inside, and he doesn't bowl, then that team will go under pressure. So I think he has got a great attitude, and he has got a fighter spirit that the team loves,” Bumrah told.
