Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni once again received a grand welcome from the fans as the team was heading towards practice. Thousands of fans gathered near the stadium to have a look at the players but it was Dhoni who once again stole the show. The fans in attendance cheered his name while in return, the CSK skipper waved at them while returning back from the practice session.
Fans went berserk with Dhoni’s gesture as one of the fans in attendance compared the cricketer to God. CSK shared the video on their social media and it instantly went viral, given Dhoni’s popularity in Chennai and all over India.
“Seeing Dhoni is a very big thing for us. We have seen a God," a fan said in the video.
“We are waiting for MS Dhoni to come. I just want to see him adjust his glove or his bat. Whatever he does, we will come to see MS Dhoni and cheer for him. Let people around the globe cheer for Dhoni, but for people in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, he is Thala for us. Thala for a reason,” another fan said.

Meanwhile, after winning the IPL in 2023, Dhoni clarified that he will be back in 2024, only if his knee functions properly. Soon after the final last year, the Ranchi-born cricketer underwent knee surgery, and following it, he trained hard to regain his fitness. Currently, the former India skipper is functioning at 100 percent as he was spotted smacking sixes during practice.
On the other hand, this can end up being Dhoni’s last season in the cash-rich league. He was on the verge of retiring in 2023 but he pushed himself to give back the fans, who gathered in numbers to see him play last year. However, his teammate Deepak Chahar is optimistic as he believes that the wicketkeeper-batter can continue playing for two more years, as he is extremely fit. Meanwhile, CSK will kick off the 2024 edition of the tournament as they will host RCB on March 22 at M Chidambaram Stadium.
