Young India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill wreaked havoc in the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare, securing a 10-wicket win for the visitors. Jaiswal smashed 93* runs off 53 deliveries while Gill made 58* runs off 39 balls as India chased 153 runs in just 15.2 overs. Both openers looked flawless in the middle and given their form, they have likely secured the opening spot for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, after the game, Jaiswal opened up on his partnership with Gill and stated that the idea was to win the game and to make sure to do it without losing any wickets. The 22-year-old mentioned that he enjoyed his time in the middle and was happy to contribute to the win that sealed the series for India.

“We were only thinking about finishing the game and make sure that the team wins and we finish without any loss. The only thing in the mind was to finish the game without any loss. I really enjoyed playing today, it was an amazing experience with Shubman bhai and I really enjoyed scoring the runs. Whenever I play for India I really enjoy and feel proud,” Jaiswal told a group of fans after the game in a video shared by the BCCI.

Enjoyed my process and being a part of the World Cup champion team: Jaiswal

Jaiswal was part of India’s T20 World Cup squad that won the trophy last month. However, the youngster didn’t feature in any of the matches as the management backed seniors Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as openers. However, Jaiswal mentioned enjoying his time during the tournament as he got to learn a lot from his maiden white-ball tournament in senior cricket.
