‘Well, that was special’ – Riyan Parag on his all-round performance in East Zone’s win in Deodhar Trophy

Riyan Parag took to his social media handle to share a message following his scintillating outing in the match between East Zone and North Zone in the Deodhar Trophy. Notably, the two sides squared off in match 7 of the competition at the Cricket Association Puducherry (CAP) Ground 3, in Puducherry, on Friday, July 28.
Opting to bat first, East Zone posted a humongous first innings total of 337 runs in their stipulated 50 overs of the contest, courtesy of Riyan Parag’s stellar 102-ball 121. His magnificent innings featured as many as 11 sixes and five boundaries at a strike rate of 128.43.
Following his impressive outing, Riyan took to his social media handle to reflect on his match-winning innings for East Zone.
“Well that was special..,” captioned Riyan Parag on his social media handle.
Notably, his brilliant outing was not just restricted to the bat as he dazzled during the chase with the ball. Riyan broke the backbone of the middle order as he got the crucial scalps of Himanshu Rana, Mandeep Singh, and Shubham Rohilla, who compiled solid scores of 4, 50, and 41 runs, respectively.
With the final wicket of Sandeep Sharma, who was dismissed for a second-ball duck, Riyan concluded with a four-wicket haul for just 47 runs in his eight overs at an economy of 5.87, which also included a maiden over.
On the other hand, North Zone bundled out during the chase as they were restricted for 249 runs, thereby handing an 88-run win to East Zone. With this, East Zone cruised to the second place in the points table with three wins in three outings and have collected 12 points at a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.434.
On the flip side, North Zone are languishing at the bottom half of the standings with two points, courtesy of one win in three matches. East Zone play their next fixture against South Zone at the CAP Ground 2 on Sunday, July 30.
