Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant 83 helped the Men in Blue clinch an easy seven-wicket victory, thereby keeping India's hopes in the series alive.
After winning the first two T20 matches of the series, West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first in the third match, displaying a commendable batting performance. Openers Brandon King and Kyle Mayers provided a strong start, amassing a partnership of 55 for the opening wicket.
However, Mayers fell victim to Axar Patel's bowling after contributing to the partnership. Brandon King, on the other hand, continued to play well, scoring run-a-ball 42 before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. The in-form batter Nicholas Pooran displayed glimpses of his skill with a few good shots before falling prey to Kuldeep Yadav's bowling.
Skipper Rovman Powell played some powerful shots, contributing 40* runs off just 19 balls with one four and three sixes, aiding West Indies in reaching a total of 159 in 20 overs. On the Indian side, Kuldeep Yadav secured three wickets, while Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar each claimed one wicket with the rest of the bowlers remaining wicketless.
Chasing a target of 160, India had a shaky start as debutant opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in the very first over. Shubman Gill's struggle with the bat persisted, as he was dismissed for a mere six runs off 11 balls.
Nonetheless, Suryakumar Yadav and the young prodigy Tilak Varma forged an impressive partnership, accumulating 77 runs together. Suryakumar Yadav's splendid batting performance culminated in a brilliant knock of 83 from just 44 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes.
Subsequently, skipper Hardik Pandya joined forces with Varma, and they both guided India to victory. Hardik Pandya sealed the match with a six, allowing India to clinch a victory by seven wickets and stay alive in the five-match T20 series. Varma and Pandya remained unbeaten, scoring 49 and 20 runs respectively as the Men in Blue completed the chase succesfully.
