Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen came forward and questioned the state of Pakistan cricket after the side lost their first Test of the ongoing series against Bangladesh. Taking from his experience in the PSL, Pietersen opined that he expected better from Pakistan against Bangladesh.

It is worth noting that the Test loss against Bangladesh was the fourth time that the side lost a Test after declaring in the first innings. Taking full advantage of the flat conditions, Bangladesh managed to register a comfortable 10-wicket win.

"What happened to cricket in Pakistan? When I played in the PSL, the standard of that league was tremendous; the players had a very good work ethic, and the youngsters on display were magic. What’s happening there?" Pietersen tweeted.

Interestingly, Kevin Pietersen played three seasons in the PSL from 2016 to 2018, and most of his teammates from his side have either retired or are not selected due to being past their prime.

Sometimes batting is a flop show and they bowl badly on other occasions: Ramiz Raja

Furthermore, former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja came forward and summarised the issues that plague Pakistan cricket. He attributed the team’s losses to not being able to handle pressure.

"If any team can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, it's the Pakistan team, and their reputation has become like that. This has not happened for the first time that Pakistan have floundered on the fifth day of Test cricket. Sometimes batting is a flop show and they bowl badly on other occasions," Raza said in a video on his YouTube channel.

"It becomes an odd story whenever pressure mounts on this team. I feel it's a serious problem. Your belief system goes off as soon as pressure mounts on you, especially on the bowlers, as they start bowling bad spells. The batters don't have the ability at all as it becomes a flop show whenever there is slight sideways movement," Ramiz added.
