Team India's all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, posted a heartfelt tribute to his mother on his social media account on July 16, 2024. Jadeja, a member of India's recently crowned T20 World Cup-winning team, shared a touching sketch. The portrait depicted him holding the T20 World Cup trophy with his mother by his side, all set against the backdrop of the Indian tricolour.

Despite his strained relations with his father, the dynamic all-rounder was purportedly very close to his mother, Lata Jadeja. Sadly, Jadeja lost his mother at the tender age of 17 in 2005 while he was a member of India's Under-19 cricket team. This team later clinched the U-19 World Cup title in 2008 under the leadership of Virat Kohli.

Meanwhile, Jadeja declared his retirement from T20Is a day after India secured the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final match in Barbados. His retirement followed the departures of Virat Kohli and former T20I captain, Rohit Sharma, both of whom announced their decision of hanging their boots moments after India secured the historic seven-run victory against the Proteas in Barbados through announcements during the post-match press conference.

The illustrious all-rounder, who made his debut for India in the shortest format back in 2009, has bid adieu to T20Is after an impressive career spanning 74 matches. In his T20I tenure, he amassed 515 runs at a commendable average of 21.45 and clinched 54 wickets, maintaining an economical rate of 7.13. His contributions with both bat and ball have been instrumental in many of India's victories over the years.

Nevertheless, Jadeja is still expected to be an integral part of India's ODI and Test outfits. He is poised to participate in the forthcoming international fixtures during India's impending tour of Sri Lanka.
