Pakistan ace pacer Haris Rauf was involved in a verbal and physical spat with one of the fans after their humiliating exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. In a viral video, the 30-year-old was spotted charging at a fan, while his wife was trying to restrict him from going after the fan.

After the video went viral on social media, Rauf issued a statement claiming that the fan was calling out his family, which infuriated him. The pacer mentioned that as a professional cricketer and public figure, he is ready to welcome all sorts of criticism but will not tolerate when his family is being dragged.

“I decided not to bring this on social media, But now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticize us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parent and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions,” Rauf wrote on his X handle.

Fans should know how to respect the boundaries: Mohammad Hafeez

Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez came in support of Rauf and stated that the fans need to know and respect boundaries between the personal and professional lives of cricketers.

“Fans should know how to respect the boundaries between personal & professional life of a cricketer. These are basic ethics & a humble request,” Hafeez wrote.

Meanwhile, Pakistan lost back-to-back matches against the USA and India, which complicated their race to the Super 4. They later won two matches on the trot against Canada and Ireland, but in the end, it wasn’t enough for them to qualify. Since then, there have been multiple reports of changes in the Pakistan team, but neither PCB nor the team management has commented on the same.
