Jacintha Kalyan will make history as she is all set to take up the role of India's female pitch curator for the upcoming 2024 Women's Premier League (WPL). Her ability to design and analyze cricket grounds will come in handy in the WPL.
The first step in Jacintha's path to this accomplishment was her employment as a receptionist at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). She developed a gradual interest in setting up cricket pitches and grounds, and last year she successfully passed the Curator Examination conducted by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). She has contributed significantly to the creation of pitches for numerous domestic, international, and IPL competitions at the KSCA alongside her male colleagues.
Jacintha was asked how she felt about her family's reaction to her ground-breaking accomplishment. To which she replied, that there would be talks about male dominance and that people might make remarks about her tasks that are typically done by men.
"There will be discussions about male domination, and people may comment on me performing what is traditionally seen as men's work. However, what matters to me is consistently executing my responsibilities to benefit the game and ensure the players are content with the wickets and ground conditions," Kalyan said in an interaction with the WPL.
