After winning the two-match Test series by 1-0, India embarked on a new assignment against the same side as they started the three-match ODI series at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on July 27. The series will serve as a preparation for India for the ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled to begin from October 5 in India. 

Ahead of the first ODI, the preparations were in full swing for Indian players as they were spotted toiling hard in the nets. However, during the intense practice session, a hilarious exchange between Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya was witnessed. Pandya was bowling to Kohli in the nets and delivered a wide delivery, making the latter throw his bat at it.

After completing the shot, the duo stared at each other for a few seconds. However, as soon as Pandya turned towards his bowling mark, Kohli hilariously signalled a boundary with his legs wide apart and tongue out.

Meanwhile, following the ODI series, the two teams will play a five-match T20I series. India will next play the Asia Cup from August 30 before the the final chapter of their World Cup preparations arrives in the form of a three-match ODI series against Australia in September. 

Meanwhile, India won the toss in the first ODI and opted to bowl. The Rohit Sharma-led side picked Ishan Kishan as their primary wicketkeeper while Mukesh Kumar making his ODI debut.  Notably, Mohammad Siraj has been released from the squad as he flew back to India ahead of the first game to get much-needed rest after a packed schedule. The Rohit Sharma-led side will be eager to start the series on a high with a win in the first ODI.
