'Will look to carry on the winning legacy' - Jhulan Goswami and Charlotte Edwards express elation after joining Mumbai's coaching panel
The Twitter handle of Mumbai Indians shared the video of Jhulan Goswami and Charlotte Edwards who are the newly appointed bowling and head coach of the team respectively.
In a major development Mumbai Indians announced on Sunday, February 5 that they have appointed England legend Charlotte Edwards as their head coach, veteran India seamer Jhulan Goswami as bowling coach and Devieka Palshikaar as the batting coach ahead of the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League (WPL).
With the tournament tentatively scheduled to begin in March, Goswami and Edwards have mentioned how elated they feel to be associated with MI. In a video shared by Mumbai Indians both Goswami and Edwards heaped praise on MI as a franchise and mentioned that they will look to continue the legacy.
"Hello, Paltan. I am very happy to join the Mumbai Indians women's team as the bowling coach and mentor. I'm really looking forward to working with the girls, with Charlotte and Devieka by my side. MI has always had a winning mentality, and we will be looking to carry on that legacy. See you soon," Jhulan Goswami said in the video.
Honored to be joining the MI family: Charlotte Edwards
Following the video of Jhulan, Mumbai also shared the video of head coach Charlotte Edwards. Widely regarded as one of the greatest female cricketers of all time, Edwards had a stellar international career where she captained the England side to both the ODI and T20 World Cup triumphs.
"I am absolutely delighted and very honoured to be joining the MI One family as their new women's head coach. I would like to thank the Mumbai Indians management for this wonderful opportunity at such an exciting time for women's cricket. I am looking forward to working with Jhulan and Devieka," Edwards said in the video.
