Indian Women's team secured a convincing 82-run victory over Sri Lanka in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. India settled the scores against the recent Women's Asia Cup 2024 champions at Dubai Stadium on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the unique way in which the Indian team announced the Best Fielder medal caught everyone's attention as the winner was announced on the stadium's big screen. The initiative, started by the Indian men's team during the 2023 ODI World Cup, has now become a tradition in women's team as well.
Head coach Amol Muzumdar and fielding coach Munish Bali praised the overall fielding effort of the team as the medal was handed over to substitute fielder Radha Yadav, who took a spectacular diving catch to dismiss Vishmi Gunaratne in the first over of Sri Lanka's innings.

India Women register second win
After a disappointing loss to New Zealand in their opening game, India has made a roaring comeback, first by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan and now Sri Lanka.
The Indian innings saw strong performances from openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, who started firmly for the side. However, it was skipper Harmanpreet Kaur who stole the show, scoring a half-century in the final overs to propel India to a solid total of 172 runs.
Sri Lanka's chase got off to a poor start, as they lost three wickets in the first three overs. Despite efforts from Kavisha Dilhari and Anushka Sanjeewani, the Lankan team could not keep up with the required run rate.
Arundhati Reddy and Asha Sobhana were the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets each and maintaining the pressure on their opponents throughout the innings. The Sri Lankan team was eventually bowled out for just 90 runs, handing India a massive 82-run victory.
