WPL 2024 final: Virat Kohli calls Smriti Mandhana after title win, moment goes viral

Royal Challengers Bangalore women scripted history as they defeated Delhi Capitals women in the final of the WPL (Women’s Premier League) 2024 to lift their maiden title. Both sides faced off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, March 17.
After Richa Ghosh hit the winning runs to bring the trophy home, Royal Challengers Bangalore women skipper Smriti Mandhana was seen talking to ace Indian batter Virat Kohli on a video call. The picture of the moment has been going viral all over social media.
Furthermore, celebrating the title win, Virat Kohli took to his Instagram story and posted a picture of the squad and captioned it, “Super Women.” It is worth noting that Kohli has been unable to lift the IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore but the star batter was ecstatic seeing the women’s team breaking the curse.

Resilient batting led RCB Women to their maiden title glory
Speaking of the WPL 2024 Final clash, the final began with Delhi Capitals batting first after winning the toss. The side opened their innings with openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma scoring 23 and 44 runs, respectively. However, the rest of the batters could not amount to much. Capitals posted a total of 113 runs in the first innings. As for Bangalore, Shreyanka Patil was the highest wicket-taker, with four wickets to her name. Sophie Molineux took three wickets, with Asha Sobhana striking twice.

Aiming to chase down the target, Bangalore got off to a brilliant start as openers Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine scored 31 and 32 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Ellyse Perry continued her red-hot form and scored 35* runs to chase the target for her side. Royal Challengers Bangalore women defeated Delhi Capitals women by eight wickets and lifted their maiden WPL title.
