WPL 2024: Shah Rukh Khan's signature pose with captains steals the show at opening ceremony

In a dazzling display of glitz and glamour, the second edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) kickstarted with a star-studded opening ceremony at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 23. The ceremony, led by none other than Bollywood's King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, set the stage on fire with a perfect blend of cricket and entertainment.
Shah Rukh Khan, along with Kartik Aaryan, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra, added a touch of Bollywood magic to the cricket carnival. The crowd was on its feet as King Khan delivered an electrifying performance.
Before his performance, Shah Rukh Khan conveyed a compelling message, emphasizing progress of women in various fields and advocating for their empowerment in sports. He underscored the importance of recognizing the rise of women and the emergence of queens in their domain.
"If women have progressed in so many fields, then why not in sports? This was the reason behind the initiative of the Women's Premier League by the BCCI under secretary Jay Shah. For the next 30 days, it's not only about women and their power, it's not only about cricket and the goodness of sports. It's about the rise of women and to carve their place and the rise of queens in their Queendom," Shahrukh said ahead of his performance, as per India Today.

The highlight of the evening was when Shah Rukh introduced the five team captains – Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, Smriti Mandhana, Allysa Healy, and Harmanpreet Kaur – with his iconic pose. The moment captured the essence of the event, symbolizing the union of cricket and Bollywood.
Other Bollywood stars added the perfect spice to WPL 2024 opening ceremony
Adding to the spectacle, Kartik Aaryan, representing the Gujarat Giants, started the proceedings, followed by Shahid Kapoor's stylish entry for Mumbai Indians on a bike. Tiger Shroff showcased his dance moves for Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sidharth Malhotra set the stage ablaze before greeting the Delhi Capitals players.
The amalgamation of cricket and Bollywood reached its pinnacle when BCCI dignitaries, including President Roger Binny and Honorary Secretary Jay Shah, joined the stars and captains on stage. The ceremony concluded with all five captains posing with the coveted WPL trophy, marking the official beginning of the tournament.
