Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to clinch their maiden title win in history. Soon after Richa Ghosh hit the winning shot, the party started in the dressing room as the players ran to the ground to hug her and Ellyse Perry, who was on the other end of the crease. Meanwhile, the party was boosted by star India batter Virat Kohli, who video-called after the win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
In the video, it was seen that Virat Kohli was dancing with joy as the RCB players joined him as well. Notably, the former skipper has been part of the franchise since its inception of the IPL in 2008 and despite getting close on three occasions, he couldn’t cross the line. However, he was elated with the women’s team getting the job done and helping RCB win its first title in history.

Notably, batting first, Delhi started well as Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning managed to give a good start. The duo stitched a partnership of 64 runs but soon after Shafali got out, wickets fell like a house of cards. Seven of their players scored in single digits as Delhi posted 113 runs in the first innings. With the ball, Sophie Molineux and Shreyanka Patil stole the show as the duo picked up three and four wickets each.

Even though RCB were chasing a small target, Delhi kept themselves in the hunt till the final over. They kept building pressure on the visiting team, which seemed to be in trouble at one point. Nevertheless, Ellyse Perry and Smriti Mandhana managed to rotate strike consistently, which helped RCB during the chase. After Mandhana got out for 31 runs, Richa joined Perry in the middle as the duo batted in the same template to get the job done.
Meanwhile, DC skipper Meg Lanning was in tears after the loss. She helped the franchise qualify for the finals in two consecutive years but couldn’t get the job done.
