India kick off World Cup campaign against Australia
Speaking of team India’s upcoming assignments, the side will begin their World Cup campaign by taking on Pat Cummins-led Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. They recently took on the Aussies in a three-match ODI series and managed to register a comfortable victory by winning the first two games.
The series and the Asia Cup title victory would provide the side with some much-needed confidence and just what they need to potentially go all the way in the tournament. It is also worth noting that before the World Cup begins, India will face off against England and the Netherlands in the World Cup warm-up games on September 30 and October 3, respectively.
Led by Rohit Sharma, the side will look to put in good performances in the warm-up game and go on to win their first game of the World Cup against Australia as well. Hosting the proceedings completely for the first time, team India will undoubtedly have unrivaled fan support behind them, and it could be interesting to see how far the side goes in the marquee event.
