“I had first met him (Modi) in 2010 in Ahmedabad. He was the chief minister of Gujarat back then. We (India) had a match against South Africa in the Motera Stadium. Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), who was our captain back then introduced me to him. Modi Sahab ne khud bola ki ‘bhai ye toh apna ladka hai, dhyaan rakhna (Modi Sahab said himself, ‘He’s our boy, take care of him)’,” said Jadeja on their meeting.
“You feel special when a person of such big stature says this personally. I felt really good when he said this,” he added.
Chennai Super Kings retain Ravindra Jadeja ahead of IPL 2023
Despite the reported differences between the franchise and the star all-rounder, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have officially retained the player ahead of the forthcoming season. The CSK star endured a torrid season in the previous edition and there were speculations that he could move to another franchise in 2023.
However, it appears as though both parties have settled their differences, and the speculations have been put to rest following the retention made by the franchise. The association between the two is set to continue in the 16th edition of IPL.
Jadeja is currently under rehab for his knee surgery that kept him on the sidelines from the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022. The 33-year-old is expected to return for the Bangladesh tour next month in December as he has been included in the Test and ODI squads.
