Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram recently came forward and surprised fans with a special appearance during a recent Coke Studio event in Dubai. With the Champions Trophy in front of him, Akram thanked the fans for their presence and even laid out the expectations for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, which is slated to be held in Pakistan.
It is worth noting that the ICC is yet to announce the model in which the Champions Trophy will be held. There have been some major discussions over how the tournament will be held. The biggest reason for the discussion has been the refusal of the BCCI to allow the Indian team to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
Citing security reasons and political tensions between both countries, the Indian team is not expected to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. However, Wasim Akram had a different point of view about the tournament, and opined that Pakistan is ready to host the Champions Trophy.
“I would like to thank everyone. Your passion is typical Pakistani passion. This is the Champions Trophy which is happening in Pakistan. Pakistan is ready to host the Champions Trophy,” Akram said.

I think whatever I'm reading, there are positive vibes: Akram
Before the ongoing tussle between India and Pakistan and the former’s travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, Akram had taken centre stage and expressed how hopeful he was of the Indian team travelling to Pakistan.
"I think whatever I'm reading, there are positive vibes from [the] Indian government and [the] BCCI. I also read somewhere they will play probably all their games in Lahore. They will probably come to Lahore and travel [back] the same night. I'm all for it, as long as India is comfortable. And I can promise you, they [are] going to get looked after amazingly well. I mean, Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, [Hardik] Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, they have fans in Pakistan. The young cricket fans adore them,” Akram had said a couple of months back.
