Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has put an end to speculations about his entry into politics. Contrary to media reports, Yuvraj clarified that he will not be contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab.
The rumours had gained momentum after his recent meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, leading to speculations that he might join the ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and replace actor Sunny Deol in the party from Gurdaspur constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. However, the 42-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air and stated that he will work for the people through his foundation ‘YouWeCan’ and would not be joining politics.
“Contrary to media reports, I’m not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation @YOUWECAN. Let’s continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities.” Yuvraj posted on X.
