Mithali Raj is one of the greatest cricketers India have ever produced. She is currently the leading run-scorer in ODIs with 6373 runs in 194 ODIs at an average of 50.18. She surpassed former English cricketer Charlotte Edwards and accomplished the feat in last year’s Women’s World Cup in England. She also boasts of 50 half-centuries and six centuries in the 50-overs format.
Last month, she also became the first Indian to notch 2000 runs in T20Is, surpassing the likes of Virat Kohli, during the Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia. The women’s prodigy also has played 10 Tests in which she has racked up 663 runs with a highest score of 214 off 407 balls against England in Taunton back in 2002. It was also her maiden appearance for the team in Whites.
Mithali’s heartfelt gesture
Currently, she only captains the ODI team while Harmanpreet Kaur is the skipper in the T20I format. She is also known for her benevolent personality. Recently, she sent a cricket bat to Inaaya Naumi Khemu, the nine-month-old daughter of Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu. The couple got married on 25th January 2015. Khemu is a popular Bollywood actor, who made her debut back in 2015.
On the contrary, Soha is the daughter of former Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and renowned actress, Sharmila Tagore. Saif Ali Khan, Soha’s brother, is also a veteran in the Indian film fraternity. Meanwhile, Soha was delighted by Mithali’s present for her daughter and she took to Twitter and thanked the Rajasthan-born cricketer.
She expressed her joy and wrote, “Thank you so much @M_Raj03 for this very precious present for Inaaya!! Can’t wait for her to grow into it – until then we will be watching you continue to make India proud on the field”
