Some of the matches of ICC World Cup 2011 might have been fixed: Media Report
A shocking revelation according to a media report that the confidential file of the ICC’s anti-corruption and security unit indicates that some of the matches of ICC World Cup 2011 might have been fixed.
The UK’s Daily Mail website says that,” the ACSU has submitted a confidential report indicating that a few 2011 World Cup matches may have been fixed. It is the world cup which India won after 28 years on their home soil lead by MS Dhoni.
The match fixing scandal that is haunting the existence of the Indian Premier League now is underway since the World Cup. The bookies and the master mind were trying to dig their holds deeper into the base. The ACSU had surveillance over matches and practice sessions to make note of any such activity taking place.
They traced the master mind of the betting game and also tracked down his telephone number, records and travelling details. The report also suggests that even a few high-profile players from across teams were approached with offers which were revealed during investigation and two players reported it to the ACSU that they were actually approached by bookies to throw away games.
This is very startling and shattering to get to know such facts if they are, there needs to be a real watch dog and a sweep campaign to rub off all such scars from the tarnished image of cricket in sports fraternity now. An official confirmation of the UK’s Daily Mail’s report though is yet to come from the ICC or ACSU.
