'Some stadium this is' - Ben Stokes, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya in awe of Motera stadium
Even Indian cricketers have let their feelings known about the newly revamped Sardar Patel Stadium.
The third Test match between India and England will take place at the renovated Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera. The stadium is massive and has a colossal seating capacity of 110000 spectators. Even if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allows only 50% seating capacity, there will still be 55000 spectators allowed in the stadium.
And surely, the atmosphere in the stadium will be electrifying in Ahmedabad. England all-rounder Ben Stokes is in awe of the stadium and has expressed his feelings on Twitter.
Stokes retweeted a tweet that was posted by the official handle of England Cricket. “Some stadium this is…. And a bit of local music to help get through to the end,” read the caption from Stokes. You can watch Ben Stokes’ tweet below.
Indian cricketers also in awe of Motera stadium
Apart from Stokes, even Indian cricketers have let their feelings known about the newly revamped Sardar Patel Stadium. Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was impressed by the world-class facilities on offer at the stadium, and also stated that he is looking forward to taking the field on 24th February 2021. This is Pant’s tweet.
Even Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was impressed by the world-class gym facilities that were provided to the cricketers. Pandya also stated in his tweet that the gym has surpassed all expectations. You can see Pandya’s tweet below.
Indeed, such a wonderful stadium would be a fitting finale for the final two Tests between India and England. The series has been a tight one thus far, with both England and India winning a game apiece. The third Test will be a Day-Night affair and will be played with the pink ball.
The Indian side will be high on momentum, after thrashing the visitors by 317 runs in the second Test at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Ravichandran Ashwin was the star performer for India in the second Test. The local boy scalped 8 England wickets with the red cherry in hand, and also scored an attractive 106 off just 148 deliveries to walk away with the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
The Indian side would be looking to win the third Test and take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series. The third rubber will start in 4 days’ time(February 24th).
