The Indian team is enjoying a much-needed break in England after the completion of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against New Zealand on June 23. All the team members have got some time to unwind and the players are spending it by exploring England and posting some quality family time pictures and videos on social media.
Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh has accompanied him for the team’s five-match Test series against England starting on August 4. After sharing a video of a puppy on her official Instagram account, Ritika this time posted a story along with her husband, in which Sharma can be seen giving a stern and straight face look.
Ritika and Rohit pull each other’s leg frequently on social media and this time it was Ritika’s turn to take on Rohit. She came up with a cheeky caption for her Instagram story involving her husband, “Someone tell him it’s cool to smile.”
Acid test for Rohit Sharma in England
He may have established himself as Mr indispensable in India’s white-ball scheme of things, but his Test record- especially in the away Tests has often been the hot topic of discussion. Although Sharma’s brilliant average and tons in India have made him the team’s first-choice opener, he is yet to score a hundred in the away Tests. This series will be the ultimate test for the 34-year-old to prove to his critics that he is not a home track bully.
With a vast amount of experience of playing the limited-overs format in England, Sharma will look to bring in all his experience and score runs in the seam and swing conditions in England. With solid technique and shots galore, the elegant right-hand batter will look to attack and play a risk-free brand of cricket.
With Shubman Gill ruled out of the first Test against England, the onus will fall on the senior players like Rohit, Pujara, Kohli and Rahane to help India get off to a good start in the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
