The 2018 edition of the Vitality Blast has started picking up some serious momentum. The teams are tweaking their combinations for the remaining games and roping in a few new players to boost their strength. In a recent update, team Somerset have made a major signing in the form of veteran Windies pacer Jerome Taylor. They have signed the pace bowler for the remainder of the competition this year.
The 34-year old pace bowler is certainly a big value addition to the Somerset side. Currently, Somerset are ranked sixth in the South Division with a couple of wins and as many number of defeats this season. Jerome Taylor is set to be available for the side in their remaining 9 matches and the knockouts, if the team makes it to the business end of the season. The first game for Taylor is likely to be against Surrey on July 27. Prior to this, Jerome Taylor has tasted success in England during his County stints with teams like Sussex and Leicestershire.
“We are delighted to have secured such a high-quality player for the business end of the Vitality Blast. He brings with him a wealth of international T20 experience and is a player who can really impact games with the ball, both with the new ball and especially at the end of an innings,” Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry quoted.
Taylor expresses his delight
Meanwhile, the man in the frame, Jerome Taylor, expressed his delight over the opportunity that has come his way. He mentioned that it is an honor for him to bag a deal with such a prestigious club. He hopes to make good contributions for the side and help the younger lot in the camp with his experience.
“I’m really excited to be joining Somerset. It’s a real honour to join such a prestigious club and I hope that I can help bring my experience to what looks like a really exciting group of young players,” the veteran pacer remarked.
