MS Dhoni shockingly stepped down as the Chennai Super Kings captain on March 24 having led them successfully for 12 seasons. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed as his successor. After taking over the reins from Dhoni, Jadeja has exuded confidence to lead the team from the front from this year onwards and also take the legacy of the franchise forward.
Meanwhile, it seems that Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma is not convinced that the southpaw will be a good leader for CSK. While the former Ranji player did hail Ravindra Jadeja the all-rounder, he made it clear that sometimes a good cricketer is not necessarily a good captain adding that the middle-order specialist is an inexperienced candidate as well.
Ravindra Jadeja doesn’t have that much experience: Rajkumar Sharma
“Ravindra Jadeja is no doubt a leading all-rounder in the world. But since he hasn’t captained much and doesn’t have that much experience, then it would be something to look out for. Sometimes a good cricketer isn’t necessarily a good captain and vice versa”, said Rajkumar Sharma while speaking on the YouTube podcast ‘Khelneeti’.
When asked to share his thoughts on leading the four-time champions while he was heading for a practice session on March 24, the Gujarat cricketer made it clear that he will approach Mahendra Singh Dhoni if he has any queries on the field and at the same time, also mentioned that the 2011 World Cup-winning skipper will be his go-to man.

It will be interesting to see whether the title-holders led by new skipper Ravindra Jadeja be able to register their first points in IPL 2022 against KKR at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 26. The two-time champions have also appointed a new captain for this season and he is India’s middle-order sensation, Shreyas Iyer.
Having rebuilt their squad at the two-day mega auction last month, CSK would be eyeing a record-equaling fifth IPL crown this time around.
