Indian skipper Virat Kohli is an animated character on and off the cricket field. Kohli had often grabbed the attention of many cricket fans for his hilarious and entertaining reactions to the incidents happening on the cricket field. The Indian bowling unit has seen a new light under the current Indian skipper as India now boasts of having one of the most lethal and intimidating pace attacks in the cricket fraternity.

India’s lethal seam attack comprises Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, T Natarajan, Navdeep Saini, and many more. India’s decorated seamer Shami is a good friend of Virat Kohli and the two share good camaraderie with each other.

During an interaction, Shami asserted that the fast bowlers are pretty aggressive and it is hard to match their energy levels on the cricket field. However, if there is someone who can those standards is Kohli. The seamer revealed that there have been times when Virat has questioned him for not celebrating enough for picking a wicket. Shami added that he has also many times made fun of Virat when his celebration pictures go viral on social media.

Virat has led the team brilliantly: Mohammed Shami

“Fast bowlers are very aggressive, both old and new. But the one player who could probably emulate their aggression is our own captain! Sometimes, when a picture of Virat’s celebration of a wicket goes viral on social media, I funnily ask him, ‘Was it my wicket or yours?’ He celebrates more than the bowlers! Sometimes he points out that you don’t look too happy with the wicket, so I simply tell him, ‘You did all the celebration for me!’” Shame said as quoted by India TV.

Further in the interview, the pace merchant heaped praises on Kohli for brilliantly leading the side and taking Team India to new heights. India will now lock horns against New Zealand in the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship followed by five-match Test series against England.

“But it is important to have fun on the field. Virat shows aggression, obviously, but as a unit, he has led the team brilliantly so far. In addition, he is a very aggressive batsman too,” Shami concluded.
