Soon after Cook announced decision to step down Kevin Pietersen is back in the spotlight
England Test captain Alastair Cook stepped down from captaincy today (February 6) soon after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made the decision fans were busy appreciating his contribution and how the decision has come at an apt time. Kevin Pietersen who cannot keep himself away from the spotlight when anything in England cricket is being discussed or for that matter things related to Cook, Andrew Strauss and Co.
Pietersen didn’t think twice before tweeting “#BringBackKP” with which he wants to indicate now that Cook is gone it is the right time to get him back. But this couldn’t be anything more than a social media stunt since ECB has in the past clearly stated that they are not looking to bring back the cricketer in the mainstream from exile.
The 36-year-old just a couple of days ago clarified that he hasn’t put his name in the IPL 2017 players auction since he has been away for most of the winter from home, travelling around and doesn’t want to spend another couple of months in India. Pietersen’s most recent association was with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League where he played a key role for the team with the bat.
His BBL stint wasn’t without controversies and he was very recently fined for terming an umpiring decision shocking while interacting with the commentators on air during a match.

KP’s tweet had immediate reactions coming in from his supporters and those who think his time is well over in international cricket and if he wants to make a comeback can rather be with the South African team and definitely not in England.
