While it was being speculated by many that former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly would become the BCCI President following Supreme Court order of January 3, 2017, but the BCCI of the popular information site Wikipedia has gone on to the extent to already name Sourav Ganguly as the President of BCCI even before fresh elections have been called.
Page history says that the change was done on 19th January. This is not the only error which the page showed as it continued to have Ajay Shirke as the secretary who had been removed from the post following Lodha Committee recommendations. The headquarters itself have been moved to Kolkata from Mumbai.
The example yet again proves that how unreliable Wikipedia information can be as common users have the power to edit its pages. This misleading information might well be done by an avid Ganguly fan. Former President Anurag Thakur and former secretary Ajay Shirke were removed from their posts by the Supreme Court including other officials who didn’t meet the criteria of Lodha Committee recommendations.
Fresh elections will be held for the positions in the national body which have seen many turmoils in the last couple of months. There have been several confusions that continue to prevail. On 20th January 2017, SC had made it clear that 9 years each in BCCI and state bodies are allowed which ensures that the officials who were barred from contesting can resume their work at the office at either BCCI or at the state level depending on the number of years they have spent in both the national bodies.

Ganguly has been cited as the frontrunner for the President’s post after the ouster of Anurag Thakur. Lodha Committee has already made it clear that Ganguly has to fight the elections as he will be moving from state to BCCI. Despite this, it still remains to be seen whether he can continue after 3 years comes to an end as he cools off from the state association.
