Sourav Ganguly comes out in support of Kohli against the Australian media

The Australian media has always been critical of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Even in the Test series earlier this year, they left no chance to show him in a bad light. The series may begin tomorrow but the mind games have already begun. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly remarked that the recent potshots on Kohli were in a poor light and urged the Indian skipper to not let that bother him.

Recently an Australian journalist, Dennis trolled a picture of Kohli cleaning one of the stands at the Eden Gardens stadium along with other Indian players for the cleaning initiative i.e. the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He captioned it as “Sweepers clean the stadium in readiness for the World XI match,” which was evidently quite harsh.

“It is in very bad taste because Virat Kohli is a popular face everywhere. But that’s what has happened with Australia over the years. I think Virat Kohli should not bother he should just keep hitting those deliveries which come up because he’s a remarkable player in one-day cricket,” Ganguly told on India Today.

Being a spoilt brat

Kohli has often been referred to as a ‘spoilt brat’ by the Australian media. Ganguly remarked that Kohli has always given them a taste of their own medicine and beaten them in their own game and hence he has got that label.

“Anybody who beats them is a spoilt brat. I was one when I played against them, obviously it was a no-nonsense situation. You did not suck up to all the nonsense which happened with the Australian journalist and even on the field. I don’t think Virat should worry about it, he should just move on and win the series,” Ganguly added.

India Australia games have always managed to spice up the contest and this series may just add another feather to it.
