The 11th edition of the World’s most prestigious league- The Indian Premier League just got over, with the already two-time champions Chennai Super Kings winning the title for the third time in their seven finals. For the Sunrisers Hyderabad, their second entry in the finals did not go down as they would have expected it.

Former Indian skipper and the President of Cricket Association of Bengal Sourav Ganguly expressed his happiness over the success of the tournament. Earlier in the day, Ganguly tweeted out after the Eden Garden was selected as the best venue in the 2018 IPL tournament.

He tweeted, “The CAB is happy to inform that Eden Gardens has once again been awarded the best venue and ground of IPL 2018. The CAB takes this opportunity to thank all who have contributed to this success beginning with the ground staff.”

What did Ganguly tweet after the finals?

Ganguly further tweeted yesterday, after the finale of the tournament “What a tournament @bcci… just out of the world.. A big thank u to the supporters fans all around the country .. u make it more special.”

The left-hander also congratulated the winners ‘Chennai Super Kings’ for an outstanding show in the finals of the tournament, where they knocked the Sunrisers Hyderabad cold with an eight-wicket victory.

The final

It was always going to be a tough fight between the table toppers and the runners-up in the final of the tournament. While many expected the likes of Rashid Khan and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar to defend the total, the others expected the likes of Rayudu and Suresh Raina to chase down the total.

In the end, it was Shane Watson who thanks to the brute force he possesses managed to take the Sunrisers bowling apart with some breathtaking brand of cricket. On the other hand, Suresh Raina played a calm and composed innings to lead the Super Kings to the title.

Deservedly so, it was the right-handed Ambati Rayudu who finished the game with a beautiful drive on the off-side, while a jubilant Shane Watson lifted his arms in celebratory mode.
