Sourav Ganguly discharged from hospital after returning negative result for Omicron

In what comes as a huge sigh of relief, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has been discharged from Woodlands hospital on Friday. As he tested negative for the Omicron variant of COVID, the former Indian captain was declared out of danger.

The doctors at Woodlands hospital, which happens to be the hospital that was treating him after he got tested positive for COVID-19, said that Ganguly was doing fine. However, he has to still stay at home in isolation.

Although the 49-year-old was suffering from mild symptoms, he was still kept under observation as a precautionary move. As a matter of fact, even his family had confirmed that he was stable and there wasn’t anything to be worried about. He had received therapy on Monday night itself, and is currently “hemodynamically stable”, the hospital confirmed.

However, it is to be noted that this wasn’t the first time that the Former Bengal cricketer was admitted to the hospital. He was admitted twice earlier in 2021 due to various reasons. After complaining of chest discomfort earlier in January, he was admitted for the first time. It was later revealed that the former Indian batter suffered a heart attack while exercising at his Kolkata home.

Thus, he underwent a right coronary angioplasty as well. However, after 20 days, he had a similar chest pain once again. This lead to the second round of angioplasty on January 28. During the process, two stents were placed in two arteries. Post all of this, the Indian legend resumed work in March. He seemed to be occupied with his work for the BCCI, and there were many occasions where the board president was in the limelight.

Despite being fully vaccinated, he was tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, and was hospitalized that very day. Another important point to be noted is the fact that his brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year. Nevertheless, as Ganguly is stable and has been discharged, it is only a matter of time before the Bengal Tiger resumes his work.
