Sourav Ganguly has no objections with Virat Kohli’s choice as head coach

Former Indian captain and one-third of the CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee), Sourav Ganguly stated that he has no problem in giving weightage to Virat Kohli’s choice while appointing the new head coach of the Indian cricket Team. He also stated that all contenders have fair chances to be appointed to the coveted position.

Richard Pybus, Phil Simmons, Ravi Shastri, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput, Dodda Ganesh, Venkatesh Prasad, Virender Sehwag are the few names in contention for being selected as the coach. The post of the Coach has remained vacant after Anil Kumble resigned from the position post-India’s loss in the Champions Trophy.

“I have absolutely no problem in the BCCI taking the opinion of Virat as to what his opinion are about the coach selection. His views will be very important because at the end of the day he will have to lead the Indian team along with whoever is appointed the new coach. We will give him what is best for the team” commented Sourav Ganguly according to the interview with xtratime.in.

Ganguly also lamented about BCCI’s entanglement with SC

“We will see how it goes as I am not aware of the procedures (Skype call or video conferencing) of the interview. I have to speak to the board and find out what is the way,“Everybody has a fair chance and that’s why these applications are taken. We will decide who is the best suitable person for the job,” added Dada. Apart from the coach issue, Sourav Ganguly also lamented the fact that BCCI has been entangled with court cases in the past one year.

“It’s unfortunate how the Supreme Court has come down very heavily on the BCCI. It has to be admitted that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has been a good body, running the game of cricket smoothly over the years. Every organisation will have its weaknesses but BCCI has its strengths also. Let’s find out what happens as the Supreme Court will be giving its verdict on the 14th of July.” concluded Ganguly.
