Ravi Shastri was one of the strong contenders in the race for becoming the coach Indian cricket team along with Anil Kumble, before losing to the former Indian skipper. Shastri has revealed that committee member Sourav Ganguly was not present during his interview.

The coach was supposed to be selected by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which comprises of the former Indian cricketers Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman along with former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale.

Indian Express quoted Shastri saying, “Meeting was great. Some great questions from VVS, Sachin, and Sanjay (Jagdale, BCCI convenor). I put my way forward for the team. They wanted to know how do I plan to do well in all formats, how we should look at fast bowlers, and things of that sort.”

When asked why there were no questions from Ganguly, Shastri revealed, “Well, actually he wasn’t there.” When asked further if he wanted to know about the reason of Ganguly’s absence, he said, “That I can’t ask na. I responded to the questions asked and as I told you there were some good questions from the three, and it was a great meeting.”
