Former Indian captain and current President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Sourav Ganguly finally opened up on all the state boards removing Pakistani cricketers’ portraits from their respective stadiums or offices as a mark of respect for all those CRPF Jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama Attack in February 14.

After the attack, India and Pakistan’s World Cup game has also fallen into jeopardy with a lot of cricketers and politicians urging BCCI to forfeit the game. In that scenario, India will have to surrender their two points without entering the battlefield, which might hamper their chances of qualifying for the semifinals eventually.

Talking about the issue, Ganguly said that the whole country and the cricketing community will stand by the decision taken by the Indian government and BCCI. When asked if as the president of CAB will remove portraits of Imran from the CAB office, Ganguly said, “We will take a call, very soon.”

No chance of bilateral series with Pakistan

Sourav Ganguly also urged that India should cut all its ties in other sports as well. He called for the aftereffect of this incident to be strong and vehement from India’s side. He stated that there is no chance of bilateral cricket with the neighbours after this incident.

“Whatever happened in Pulwama last week was really sad…it is the worst possible thing that could ever happen. And, whatever reactions came from the people of India…was right. There is no chance of a bilateral series with Pakistan after this incident,” Ganguly said on India TV’sCricket Ki Baat” show.

“I can also understand the sentiments of people asking India not to play Pakistan in the World Cup and I feel the government should take strong action on this issue. The aftereffect of this should be strong from India. I agree that after this attack, India should not only stop playing cricket, hockey or football with Pakistan but should cut all ties with them ” Ganguly added.
