Sourav Ganguly opines 'determination' to be the difference between India and the other teams

Team India has been dominating in the ODI format for the last one year. Starting from beating South Africa 5-1 in 2018 to defeating New Zealand 4-1, the performances home or away were terrific. Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly feels that ‘determination’ is what differentiates the ‘Men in Blue’ and the other teams.

Except for 1-2 loss against England, the team was always on the top of the opposition. On the road to the World Cup 2019, this is just brilliant and thus makes them the favourites in the signature event. Sourav Ganguly heaped a lot of praise on the team. He said that the ability of the bowlers to pick up regular wickets is contributing massively to the team’s success.

This team is strong in every department

“The difference between India and other teams is the determination.  If India were chasing 253, there wouldn’t have been such soft dismissals. The determination showed by Kohli, Rohit, Dhoni in Australia and now Rayudu and Chahal is what differentiates them from others,” said Sourav Ganguly.

He pointed out that the team was strong in every possible department and feels that there are like-for-like replacements available. Ganguly seemed to be mighty impressed with the performance from the spin twins – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

“This team is strong in every department. Bumrah is not there but Shami played well. The plus point of this team is Kuldeep and Chahal and his bowling attack gets wickets in the start and in the middle as well,” he further added in IndiaTV’s show Cricket ki Baat.

On Ambati Rayudu

Sourav Ganguly, who had cleared that Ambati Rayudu hadn’t convinced him at number four, was impressed with the batsman for the way he played in the New Zealand series. Rayudu ended the series as the highest run-getter and led India’s revival from 18/4 in the final match in Wellington.

“Rayudu played well. He fizzled out in the middle but has played well overall and I think he will go to the WC and he will play in India after this and he will score runs and go to the WC. This is a settled team and the 14-15 core of the team is settled and I hope all these players are fit come the World Cup and this team will be a strong team,” the former Indian captain further added.
