Sourav Ganguly to pen down a hardback based on mind games in sports
Its a nightmare to get an autobiography published: Dada
Former captain of the Indian team, Sourav Ganguly, is all set to author a book based on mind games prevalent in sports. The Royal Bengal Tiger revealed that he wasn’t quite fond of the entire autobiography phenomenon as it requires a lot of patience to write about for the last couple of decades.
After making a sensational debut for India in 1996 at Lord’s where he slammed a ton, Ganguly’s glorious career spanned more than a decade where he captained the country on the various memorable overseas tours to Pakistan, Australia, England, and West Indies.
Under Ganguly’s captaincy, India reached the finals of ICC World Cup of 2003 held in South Africa. Also, India shared the Champions Trophy in 2002 with hosts Sri Lanka. But the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) believes that he is not a great writer and termed it as a ‘nightmare’ to publish an autobiography.
Its a nightmare to get an autobiography published: Dada
“To sit and write, dictate to someone, then correct it and make sure it’s on time with the publisher, it’s a nightmare. I was chased for a long time but I’m not a great writer. I’ve been asked to write a book on mind games in sport,” commented Sourav Ganguly according to News18.
“It’s a book on how the player’s mindset is important to develop the sport and I found that pretty boring actually. I have not started thinking about my autobiography. Honestly, I don’t have time and patience to write about what I’ve done for 15-20 years,” further added one of the most successful captains produced by the country.
When I became captain a lot of people asked me, did you read ‘The Art of Captaincy’ by Mike Brearley or the book by Sunil Gavaskar… I said ‘yes only on the front page’,” concluded Dada.
