Sourav Ganguly served with notice by the Kolkata Municipality

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) earlier today served former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly with a notice after his house was found to be breeding with larvae of dengue mosquitoes.

Despite the previous injunction, during today’s inspection, the KMC officials again found larvae of dengue mosquitoes in that vast compound. Thus the corporation had no option but to serve Ganguly with a notice.

“We have found larvae of dengue mosquitoes at Ganguly’s residence in Behala during our inspection on November 19 and had asked them to keep the place clean,” KMC Member, Mayor-In-Council (Health), Atin Ghosh told PTI.

Ganguly’s brother tests positive for dengue

Sourav Ganguly’s elder brother Snehasish, a former Ranji Trophy player, has been diagnosed with dengue. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president’s brother has been admitted to a city hospital yesterday and is under conservatory treatment for the disease, a senior official of the hospital, Pradip Tandon confirmed to PTI.

Snehasish, who is recovering under doctor Swapan Sarkar was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning as he had been complaining of fever. After assessing his symptoms, doctors decided to examine his blood samples, which tested positive for dengue.

Speaking to the reporters Tandon revealed, “He was admitted to our hospital yesterday evening and his tests for dengue showed positive results. Snehasish Ganguly, who complained of severe body ache with high fever, had platelet counts of around 1.68 lakh last night and it has reduced to 1.50 lakh today,”

He added, “However, his condition is better today.”

The official number of dengue deaths in the state this year stands at 35, while unofficial records state that the toll is 50. Around 12,600 people have been affected by the virus so far and have become a growing concern which needs to be eradicated as early as possible.
