Sourav Ganguly’s family members tested positive for COVID-19

Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly’s kin have been tested positive for the coronavirus. The family of Snehashish Ganguly, the secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Sourav’s elder brother, has been infected by COVID-19, the health state department mentioned on Friday, June 19. Snehashish’s wife couldn’t evade the wrath of the ungodly virus.

Shenashish’s mother-in-law and father-in-law were also diagnosed with the virus last week. Apart from them, a domestic help at Snehashish’s home in Momipur was also tested positive. They are currently being treated at a private nursing home and are reported to be in stable condition. In the meantime, Snehasish, who didn’t catch the virus, has been advised home isolation.

Hard times for Sourav Ganguly’s family  

“All the four complained of some health issues, which were similar to the symptoms of COVID-19 when they were staying at another residence and not at Ganguly’s ancestral house in Behala. After testing positive, all the four were shifted to a private nursing home,” a senior official was quoted as saying in Business Insider India.

On Saturday, June 20, they are set to be tested again and a decision would be taken, bearing in mind the test results. “Whether they will be discharged or not, depends on the result of the tests,” sources at the nursing home stated.

Sourav Ganguly, who’s also the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has been trying his heart out to help the needy in the pandemic situation. Back in March, he donated rice worth Rs 50 lakh for the underprivileged. In the very next month, he gave away 2000 kgs of rice at the Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramkrishna Mission in West Bengal.

He also pledged to feed 10,000 people daily at the ISKCON centre. Earlier, he also offered the iconic Eden Gardens to the West Bengal government for quarantine activity at the present point in time. He also had an online discussion with Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the current worldwide scenario.

Last year, he was appointed as the BCCI president and he has been greeted with appreciation for his dedicated work towards the betterment of Indian cricket.
