South Africa at Cricket World Cup Player by Player Analysis: South Africa has announced their squad for this year’s world cup. AB de Villiers will lead the team while Hashim Amla will be the vice-captain. South Africa, known as chokers, would want to shrug off this tag as they are occasionally found victims of stress and pressure in big occasion matches. They had taken a ‘mental motivator’ with themselves in the 2007 and 2011 edition of the mega-event but that wasn’t enough to motivate them through. This time there will be no mental motivator but the captain AB de Villiers was very keen to at least qualify to the semi-finals.

Many fans would want to know how their team’s representation fared previously at the faster pitches of Australia and New Zealand and what was their contribution in previous editions of the World Cup? We have combined the meticulous data of South Africa’s representation at the World Cup. The stats include each player’s contribution in Australia and New Zealand as well as in previous world cups.

Most experienced in Australia/New Zealand: Hashim Amla – 16 matches

Most experienced in World Cups:  AB de Villiers – 15 matches
