South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada names his favourite bowlers

He is considered as one, who will shoulder South Africa’s bowling responsibilities for a long time to come. At 23, Kagiso Rabada has already pocketed over 300 international wickets and will be one of the Proteas’ major hopes in the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales. Rabada is currently playing for his country against Sri Lanka in a T20I series and will appear for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League starting Saturday.

Rabada recently gave an interview, in which he cited names of some former fast bowlers who were extremely skilled in one or the other facet of quick bowling and of these, most are from Pakistan. Rabada expressed his view on the quality a perfect fast bowler would comprise of and it featured some of the best pacers Pakistan have produced in the form of Imran Khan, the country’s current Prime Minister, Wahab Riaz, and Waqar Younis.

‘Pakistani bowlers are gun’

Rabada felt the bowler who had the perfect in-swinger was Imran Khan. As his favourite bowler with the art of delivering bouncers, Rabada took left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz’s name. And Rabada’s favourite who knew the art of crushing the batsmen’s toes with yorkers the best? Waqar Younis.

“Pakistani bowlers are gun,” he was quoted as saying to cricket.com.au. Rabada, though, took the name of his compatriot Dale Steyn while mentioning his favourite bowler with perfect out-swingers.

The South African team management is apprehensive over Rabada’s fitness ahead of the World Cup, especially with him now getting ready to play in the IPL after a demanding international season. The young fast bowler has been playing non-stop cricket across all formats and his captain Faf du Plessis and the rest of the team management will hope that the Capitals supervise his workload in the T20 tournament that will go on till May 12.

South Africa will play their first match in the World Cup on May 30, the first day of the tournament, when they will take on hosts England.
