South Africa completed a convincing win over the Bangladesh in the first Test match at the Potchefstroom by a huge 333-run margin. The visiting side couldn’t even last a session on the final day as their batted just 17.1 overs in the morning session while losing their remaining seven wickets.

4/25 – Keshav Maharaj’s 4/25 in the 4th innings of this Test are the 2nd best by a South African spinner in 4th innings of Test in the last 60 years. Nicky Boje recorded bowling figures of 4/17 against Windies in 2001 at Bridgetown.
7/117 – Keshav Maharaj’s match figures of 7/117 are the 2nd best for a South African spinner at home in the last fifty years. Paul Harris had match figures of 9/161 against Australia in 2009 at Cape Town.
12 – Matches Keshav Maharaj needed to complete 50 wickets in Test cricket. These are the joint 2nd fewest for a South African spinner and the fewest since their readmission to cricket in 1992.
90 – The total of 90 by Bangladesh in the 4th innings is their joint 5th lowest total in Test cricket and their first total under 100 since the start of 2008. This is also their lowest total outside Asia and the lowest in the 4th innings of a Test surpassing their total of 138 against England in 2003.
90 – Bangladesh’s total of 90 in the 4th innings is the lowest in South Africa-Bangladesh Test matches. The previous lowest in the Test matches between the two sides is 102 by Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2003.
333 – South Africa’s winning margin of 333 runs in this game is their 5th biggest in terms of runs in Test cricket. This is also South Africa’s 3rd biggest margin of victory in a home Test.
333 – The 333 runs is the 3rd biggest margin of defeat Bangladesh have faced. They lost to Sri Lanka by 465 runs in 2009 at Chittagong and by 335 runs in 2013 against Zimbabwe at Harare.
2009 – Keshav Maharaj has picked up 7+ wickets in a Test match twice so far. He had eight wickets in the Wellington Test earlier this year. Since 2005, Maharaj is only the 2nd South African spinner to take seven and more wickets in a Test on two different occasions in a calendar year. Paul Harris had two such games in 2009.
