South Africa and Bangladesh will lock horns in the second Test that is scheduled to begin on April 8. The hosts ran through the visitors, bowling them out for a low score of mere 53 runs in the second innings of the first game. The Proteas won the first Test by 220 runs, even though not having their regular Test players like Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, and Kagiso Rabada, who opted to play the IPL 2022.

South Africa suffered a loss in the ODI series and came back stronger in the Test. Their spinner Keshav Maharaj registered his second-best figures of 7/32, restricting Bangladesh to their second-lowest total. Temba Bavuma top-scored for his side with his prolific knock of 93 (190) in the first innings, supported by skipper Dean Elgar’s 67 (101), which helped them post 367 in the innings.

Bowling out the Bangla Tigers for 298, Elgar went on to score another half-century in the second innings as the Proteas put up 204 before being bowled out. Bangladesh, chasing 274 to win, couldn’t withstand the SA bowling attack and the line-up was cleared out at 53 runs, giving a 1-0 lead to the host in the two-match series.

Pitch Conditions

St. George’s Park will be friendly to the bowlers, giving the captain a reason to go and bowl first. Once used, the pitch will act out in the favor of the spinners. Thus, the spinners will be able to get their A-Game on and the batters will have to play carefully.
