South Africa have rested their premium fast-bowler, premium bowler to be precise – Kagiso Rabada for this ODI series. Therefore, the main responsibility will be on Lungi Ngidi. Ngidi faced injury issues in recent times and is making his comeback in this ODI series. He cleared the fitness test on 30 January and is certain to play now.

Ngidi has been exceptional in his short international career so far. He has got express pace, control and an ample number of tools in his array. The tall speedster is capable of seaming the cherry both ways which makes him a dangerous bowler with the new ball, particularly in favourable conditions. Ngidi is pretty decent personnel in the death overs as well.

The Durban-born boasts of exemplary numbers at home in the 50-over format. Averaging 19.30 in 11 matches in South Africa, Ngidi has snared 20 scalps with an economy of less than five. After returning from any injury, the pacers are generally rusty in the first few games, and the same might happen with Ngidi too. However, the 23-year-old has to be on the top of his game for the hosts to have any chance in this series.
