South Africa vs India, 2018: 2nd ODI – Statistical Preview
All the key stats and numbers to be looked ahead of the crucial 2nd ODI in Centurion.
After a convincing win in the first ODI match, India will now aim towards taking the advantage in the absence of AB de Villiers for the next two games against the home team who also lost the services of Faf du Plessis. South Africa will take the field on Sunday under the captaincy of the 22-year-old Aiden Markram. He was the captain of the victorious Under-19 World Cup Team in 2014 which makes him the only Proteas captain to win a World Cup.

1 – For the first time since Faf du Plessis’ debut in 2011, South Africa will feature in an ODI without both Faf and AB de Villiers. Since 2007, South Africa didn’t have the services of both the players in only one game in January 2009.

He will become the 13th player to lead South Africa in ODI format and quickest to become the captain excluding their first ever captain Clive Rice. Kepler Wessels led South Africa in his 4th ODI for them but already had experience of playing for Australia.
2 – Centurion’s Super Sport Park is the only South African venue where India defeated the hosts more than once. India won two and lost two ODIs out of the five they played against the Saffers in Centurion. India won a total of four ODIs out of 11 they played at this venue.
5 – Morne Morkel dismissed Rohit Sharma on five occasions in the ODI format in 138 balls. Rohit managed to score 86 runs against him at an average of 17.2. In the ODIs in South Africa, Rohit scored 21 runs in 52 balls against Morkel and got out on four occasions.
6.77 – Average run-rate of the teams batting first in the last six ODI matches at the Super Sport Park in Centurion. Teams batting first scored 300+ in five of the last six ODIs at this venue.
9 – Virat Kohli now scored an ODI century in all the nine countries where he has batted. He became the 2nd player after Sachin Tendulkar to score an ODI century in eight different Test nations against the home team.
90.33 – Quinton de Kock’s batting average in ODI cricket in Centurion. De Kock scored 542 runs with four centuries in six ODI innings at this venue. Only two players have scored more ODI runs at an even better average at a venue.
846 – Runs Hashim Amla scored in the ODI format in Centurion. These are the 2nd most ODI runs scored by any player at this venue after Graeme Smith (861). Amla scored five centuries and a fifty in the 12 ODI innings at an average of 76.90 in Centurion.
